Mills Heating & Air offers blower door testing to ensure clean indoor air quality. A blower door is a diagnostic machine that our team uses to measure how much air filters out of your house. The blower door allows us to apply measurable pressure to the house so that we can determine how well your home’s ductwork is sealed. Depending on the size of your home, this testing can take between 2 to 4 hours.
What does your blower test results mean?
- ACH at 50: This means “Air Changes per Hour” at 50 pascals. This means the volume of air in your home will be replaced 5 times in one hour. Example: ACH5 is a semi-tight home, ACH5 – ACH9 is a somewhat leaky home, and anything over that is a very loose and leaky home. The lower the number the better.
- CFM at 50: This means “Cubic Feet per Minute” of air at 50 pascals. This explains how much air is moving from your home. Tight homes will be under 1250 CFM at 50, somewhat leaky homes will be between 1300-3000 CFM at 50. Any numbers over 3000 CFM would indicate a very leaky home.
It’s important to find out your blower door testing results. This will help with the indoor air quality in your home. Please call Mills Heating & Air for your appointment.
